Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso!

 Yes, another travel post, lol So, my colleague and I travelled to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in April for work. This was the longest flight I have ever been on. No really, it was.
We left Nairobi at 6 am for Addis Ababa (1 & a half hours flight) then from Addis, the flight was meant to go directly to Dakar, where we would catch a connecting flight to Ouagadougou. But lo and behold, we had two stopovers that the airline had not informed us about. So we had a 1 hour stop in Niamey, Niger then another hour in Bamako, Mali before arriving in Dakar, Senegal. Interestingly, we actually arrived at the expected time indicted on our ticket (4:25 pm i.e. 7.25 pm in Nairobi)..... Hold up.... meaning the airline had actually planned and factored in the stopovers way before hand??!! Not cool guys, not cool. Moving on, the flight from Dakar to Ouagadougou took 2hours and 45 minutes and we arrived at 9.55 pm (12:55 am Nairobi time). My friend, we had been travelling for 18 hours! I was so drained and not to mention it was 32° C when we arrived... KWISHA! We had to take pictures for our visa upon arrival and honestly, that was the most epic, 'mug shot' picture I have ever taken!

Needless to say, we managed to spare some time to tour the city. Just a few pictures..

 We passed by their main market and stopped to buy some souvenirs. What really caught my attention were these beautiful hand made sculptures made from recyclable bicycle and motorbike materials. Such innovation!
1. Visit the  Ouagadougou National Museum {or any other historical/ cultural site}
2. Enjoy their local cuisine {E.g. Tô or riz gras with meat stew and gapalo- Yum!}
3. Shop in the local markets {For traditional jewellery etc.}
4. Marvel at their unique traditional architecture {e.g. the Ouagadougou cathedral or the grand mosque}
5. Buy a souvenir at the village artisanal de Ouagadougou!

Have a prosperous Thursday and don't forget to vote for me as Best Fashion Blogger at the Kenya Fashion Awards!!!
